Step 3 — Positions

The third step of the onboarding wizard defines the roles in your team. The step's hint: Staff positions (Manager, Cook, Cashier…). At least one is required.

What positions are for

Positions describe what a person does, independent of where they work. DailyMark uses them in two important places:

  • Checklist targeting — checklist templates are aimed at a position (for example, an opening checklist for Managers, a kitchen-prep checklist for Cooks), so the right tasks reach the right people.
  • Shift planning — when building the work schedule, positions let you see and plan who covers which role on a shift.

Fields

FieldRequiredNotes
Position nameYesE.g. Manager, Cook, Cashier, Barista.

How to complete this step

  1. Press Add position.
  2. Enter the Position name.
  3. Repeat for each role you need.
  4. To delete an entry, use Remove next to it.
  5. Continue to the next step — entries are saved as you go.

You must add at least one position. If the list is empty, the wizard shows Add at least one entry. and won't let you continue.

Match positions to your checklists

Think about which groups of people will receive different checklists. If cooks and cashiers get different task lists, they should be separate positions. If everyone gets the same list, a single position is fine to start.

Examples

A small café might need just:

  • Barista
  • Manager

A full-service restaurant might use:

  • Manager, Cook, Cashier, Waiter, Cleaner

Editing later

After onboarding, positions are managed under SettingsPositions, where each position can also have a Description. You can rename positions or add new ones at any time — existing staff assignments follow the position automatically.
