Step 5 — Checklist templates (optional)
Checklist templates are the recurring task lists DailyMark sends to your staff in Telegram. Unlike the previous steps, this part is entirely optional — as the hint says: Shift checklist templates. You can skip this step and set it up later.
You can skip this
Checklist templates are not required to finish onboarding. The wizard only checks for an organization, at least one location, one position, and one staff member — see the onboarding overview.
Feel free to press Finish without creating any checklists. Nothing is lost: you can build them at any time in Checklists → Templates. See the Checklist templates guide for the full walkthrough.
Recommended: finish setup first
Most owners get more out of building checklists after onboarding, in Checklists → Templates — the full editor lets you test-send a checklist to your own Telegram before it goes to staff.
What a checklist template contains
A brief preview of what you'll set up in the full editor:
- Checklist name — e.g. Opening checklist, Kitchen closing.
- Position and Location — who receives it and where, based on the positions and locations you created in Step 3 and Step 2.
- Schedule with Start and End — when the checklist is sent and until when it can be completed.
- Message — the Telegram message itself: a Header, a Footer, and the list of Items (individual tasks staff tick off).
Because templates target a position at a location, the setup you completed in the earlier steps is exactly what makes checklists work.
Why templates come last
Every checklist template builds on the earlier steps:
- Without a Position, there is no one to address the checklist to.
- Without a Location, there is nowhere to send it.
- Without Staff linked to Telegram, there is no one to deliver it to.
That's why the wizard makes those steps required and leaves templates for whenever you're ready.
Before checklists can be delivered
For staff to actually receive checklists in Telegram, two more things must be true:
- Each recipient's Telegram is linked to the DailyMark bot — done in Settings → Staff (see Staff settings).
- The template's schedule, position, and location match staff who are on shift.
Next step
Press Finish to complete onboarding and unlock the full app. Then head to Checklists → Templates to build your first checklist — the templates guide covers it end to end.
